Cumberland County
Metro Energy was retained by Cumberland County as
its energy consultant. Metro Energy was tasked with
overseeing the county-wide energy conservation
initiative which started with a facility assessment of
the County owned buildings.
Metro Energy performed investment grade facility
assessments on (30) thirty County facilities. Together
the buildings total 600,000 square feet.
Metro Energy identified (88) energy conservation
measures (ECMs).The technologies included;
lighting, HVAC replacements, boiler replacements,
laundry heat recovery, AHU replacement, kitchen
exhaust, programmable thermostats and window
replacements.
The facility assessment identified more than
$500,000 in energy cost savings and a reduction in
energy consumption of 2,600,000 kWh, 515 kW and
74,000 therms.
In addition the environmental benefits were:
CO2 reduced: 2,415 tons
NOx reduced: 3.99 tons
SO2 reduced: 8.48 tons
These combined carbon equivalents equal over 143,000
trees planted - or approximately 575 acres of tropical
reforestation - as well as significant acreage of native
forests protected from the ravages of acid rain.
